Description
9/25/2023 - This is a great bringback example matching Type 99 used by Imperial Japan during WW2. Rifle is chambered in 7.7x58 and was a successor to the Type 38 rifle. The metal on the rifle is in fair condition with finish loss throughout after surviving the jungle conditions of Southeast Asia. The receiver is marked with the Royal Chrysanthemum and " 9 9 Type" In Japanese with the "4th" series marking, serial number, and Nagoya Arsenal stamp. The rifle is matching throughout. The serial number "820" is stamped on the bayonet lug, receiver, bolt body, extractor, safety knob, and firing pin. The stock of the rifle is in excellent condition with dings and handling marks throughout. There are small pinpricks of corrosion throughout the metal of the rifle but none of it is deep. The chrome line bore is bright and in excellent condition with sharp rifling but slightly frosted. Rifle comes in a bringback box that was shipped to a GI's family during the war.Specifications
