Description
10/13/26 - This is a mint example of a Colt Government Model .45 ACP issued by The American Historical Foundation for the 50th anniversary of World War II. According to the included certificate of authenticity, it is part of a series of 12 pistols, each honoring one of the war's campaigns, battles and victories, with each edition limited to only 250 worldwide. This one honors the North Africa Campaign and is gold-etched "In Honor Of The North Africa Campaign, 8 November 1942 **** 12 May 1943" on the left side of the slide, with its edition number "WWIINA-010" on the right side of the frame. It wears ivory-colored grips etched with Roosevelt's "At last we're on our way" and Churchill's "This is... the end of the beginning" on the left panel and the World War II 50th Anniversary emblem on the right. It comes in its green-painted wooden footlocker-style case with a white star on the lid, along with one Colt magazine, the numbered certificate of authenticity, a reprint of the FM 23-35 War Department field manual for the M1911A1, the Foundation's care and preservation booklet, and a pair of white display gloves. The gun is mint with just a couple of tiny surface scratches on the right side of the slide. A low-numbered, limited-edition commemorative with all of its original presentation items. Like-new bore.
