Description
10/22/26 - For sale is a Springfield Model 1866 that had the Allin Trapdoor conversion installed and chambered in .50-70 Government. The rifle was originally a Model 1863 made in 1864. The rifle shows its age with a brown patina developed on the surface. The trapdoor has a hint of bluing, but it is mostly worn away. The stock is in fairly good shape overall with a few arsenal repairs. There is a 1.5" crack behind the tang. The right side of the buttstock is stamped "ST JOHNS No 50". The bore is bright with strong rifling, but some pitting is visible at the muzzle. A Civil War-era Springfield with its Allin conversion.
