Description
10/19/26 - This is a BYF 42 Mauser Luger rig from the Portuguese contract. The Portuguese Army contracted for 5,282 Lugers that were delivered in February 1943 in the serial range 1m to 5282m; this one falls within that range, and the Portuguese designated it the Model 943. About half of these had parkerized finishes applied by the Portuguese, as they were sent for use in the rain forest and jungle environments of Angola and Mozambique, and this is one of the parkerized examples. It is all matching with the proper "Eagle 135" military acceptance proofs. It comes as a rig with a Portuguese holster, a cleaning rod/oiler combo, a punch tool, and two blank-bottom (unnumbered) fxo magazines whose tubes are parkerized to match the gun. The parkerized finish rates about 93%, with general high edge wear, muzzle wear, a streak of wear on the left side of the barrel, and very minor wear on the front strap, plus very light brown patina on the grip straps. Fitted with excellent but mismatched wood grips. Mint bore. A desirable parkerized Portuguese contract Luger, complete with a well-equipped rig.
