Description

11/7/17 - This is a rare 480 code Walther P.38 from 1940.  All numbered parts are matching, including the grips. The bluing rates at about 95-96%, but the finish has been restored at some point after the war.  It's possible the slide and barrel are original bluing but I don't believe the frame is.  Can't say for sure on the other parts but we are pricing it as if there is some non-factory bluing.  There were only about 7,000 of this variation produced with 480 code on the trigger guard, making it one of the rarest P.38 variations.  The magazine is numbered and matching to the pistol but the numbering is not in the correct location for a 480 code magazine.  It is an early Walther mag in it (two E/359 proofs). Like most of the early Walther P.38's, the small parts are waffen proofed.  The grips are numbered to the pistol. The bore is mint.
