Description
12/16/20 - This is a very rare and highly desirable Colt Model 1911 that was manufactured in 1912. It's all original and correct, and was previously authenticated by Scott Gahimer. The Colt oven blue finish is in great shape overall, with a very nice profile view. That vast majority of the bluing loss is on the front strap and main spring housing. The pistol is one of only 17,250 produced and shipped in 1912. Receiver and slide "H" proofs match perfectly. Original Colt non-serif H barrel. Rare and correct keyhole magazine. Other early features include the rounded rear sight, rectangular punched recoil spring plug, early recoil spring guide, short heavy hammer, type 1 thumb safety, 15 row double diamond grips, etc. The frame is marked with a circle WGP proof, indicating final inspection by Major Walter G. Penfield, who was the 1st Army Inspector of Ordnance for the first nine months of 1912. The bore shows some smoothing but it's clean overall and has no pitting. Just a fine, correct example of a pistol most Colt collectors search years for.Specifications
