Description
12/4/23 - This is a rare Colt Model 1903 that was issued to the U.S. military during WW2 and later presented to Brigadier General Richard Holmes Harrison. This is confirmed by serial in Brunner's Colt book. The pistol was shipped in1944 to Springfield Armory, one of only ~7,000 such examples. A full rundown of his military history is linked below, but he was awarded the Legion of Merit in 1961 and had a highly decorated military service record. The pistol has a crossed cannons cartouche on the left side of the frame, and the right side is U.S. Property marked. The parkerized finish rates in the low 90s with high edge wear on both sides of the slide, and a little more on the trigger guard. Minty bore and nice, wood grips. https://www.sonsoflibertymuseum.org/richard-holmes-harrison.cfm#:~:text=Richard%20Holmes%20Harrison%20was%20born,posting%20to%20Fort%20Lewis%2C%20Washington.Specifications
