Description
3/26/21 - This is a rare, early Sauer 38h rig that comes from the collection of Jim Cate, who wrote the book on Sauers. It is believed many of these early Sauers were issued to the SA, and this one has SA medallion and eagle in the grip panels, but it can't be proven without the inscription. This serial does fall very close to a batch of inscribed SA pistols, though. The pistol can be found in Cate's book (volume 1) on page 264, and listed by serial on page 295. The pistol is all original with about 80% of the high-polish blue remaining. It has a nice profile view but notable thinning/browning of the straps. Minty bore. Grips have minor handling wear but no major defects. Listing comes with a signed letter from Cate, detailing how he obtained the pistol. The rig includes the rare and desirable SA marked holster with sharp internal Sauer inkstamp. Also included is an original spare magazine, and an SA belt buckle.Specifications
