Description
10/17/22 -This is a rare Smith & Wesson New Model No.3 that was issued to the Japanese Navy. Cataloged from 1878 to 1912 with all frames manufactured prior to 1898. The revolver falls into a known serial number range (26718-27107) of New Model No. 3s shipped to Takata on October 4, 1890. A Japanese Navy anchor is stamped on the butt. Matching numbers on the frame, cylinder and barrel latch. The finish on the metal parts appears to be original, though the tone is slightly different on the side plate. There's visible thinning throughout but no rust, and only minor freckling on the right side of the frame. Excellent, shiny bore. Timing and lockup seem good.Specifications
