Description
8/19/25 - This is a hard to find Springfield contract 1911. There were only about 30,000 of these made and few are found in such nice condition with all original parts. All of the parts are properly marked with an "S" proof stamp including all of the small parts. The barrel is a bit of a mystery. There is a "P" marking on the left side of the lug and no "S" on the other side. There is what appears to be a partial "S" on the hood. So this could be a Springfield barrel or an early Remington UMC barrel. The magazine is a WWI two tone mag, but it does not have the fold-over metal base and brass reinforcement that you see with Springfield guns. The gun was made in 1916. The original finish rates about 90% with general high edge wear, muzzle wear, a small area of wear on the left side of the slide, and some very light surface scratches here and there. The bore has good rifling, but there is noticeable frosting in the grooves.
