Description
10/1/24 - This is a rare and desirable Winchester Model 97 Trench shotgun from 1942. Correct features for this example include a 1941 dated barrel, WB inspector marked stock, and early six-row heat shield. The shotgun is in good condition overall but shows some visible areas of patina, and some dings and freckling on the receiver. Also, the underside of the barrel immediately to the rear of the muzzle shows some light abrasions, perhaps from contact with the heat shield screws, and the front sight bead is missing. The stock is marked with a clear boxed ÄúW.B.Äù inspectorÄôs cartouche above a small Ordnance Wheel. The receiver is stamped with a crisp ÄúU.S.Äù on the right side, early production trench guns not being marked with the flaming bomb, the barrel marked with a clear flaming bomb above the Winchester ÄúWPÄù proof, the serial number is within the correct range with proper ÄúEÄù prefix. Terrific bore.Specifications
