Description

4/15/25 - For sale is a Remington-Lee Model 1879 repeating rifle that was built during the 2nd contract. The rifle is very worn overall. The metal has lost all its original finish and is worn down to bare metal. There are numerous patches of surface oxidation and some micropitting near the woodline. The magazine also has visible pitting on the body. The stock has plenty of handling marks, and there's a large crack on each side of the wrist that was filled in with wood filler, about 5" on one side and 7" on the other. The bore shows a hint of brightness until the last 2 inches. The rifling is present, but gets very dark at the muzzle. The rifle functions properly. The barrel is properly marked WMF with the navy anchor.
