Description
11/3/26 - For sale is a reproduction of the classic US military pith-style sun helmet, patterned after the pressed fiber sun helmets worn by American servicemen in hot climates in the 1930s and during WWII. Lightweight helmets like these were used on training grounds and rifle ranges and in the Pacific and other tropical theaters to keep the sun off the head and neck. This example is finished in khaki tan, with ventilation grommets around the crown, a raised top vent, a brown chin strap, a green under-brim lining and an adjustable sweatband. The front is fitted with a reproduction US Navy officer's cap device (eagle and shield over crossed anchors). The entire piece, including the insignia, is a reproduction. The helmet is in minty condition, with just a couple of very light scuffs here and there. A great display piece or reenactment helmet.
