Description
7/16/25 - This is a good example of a German M42 helmet that was once wrapped in chicken wire for camouflage purposes. The exterior of the helmet still has most of its original paint and there is a ghosted, oxidized pattern where the wire once covered the helmet. The army decal on the left side of the helmet is partially visible but has been heavily chipped. All three split pins are intact. The interior of the helmet has minor freckling of oxidization throughout which is more prominent around the brim. The steel band holding the leather liner is intact, as is the leather liner itself. The leather liner is soft and malleable and shows sign of heavy wear with only minor surface cracking around the brim. The chin strap is intact but the bolt is missing on the short end of the chin strap where the buckle is located. Marked HKP64, Lot # 2729.
