Description

2/23/22 - This is a scarce Springfield 1903 National Match Sporter rifle that is documented by serial in Brophy's book on Springfield 1903 Rifles as part of a small batch of DCM sales for this variation. It features the correct W3L bolt, "C" stock with checkered buttplate and reverse safety headless cocking piece. From 1925-32, the DCM offered this variating with Lyman receiver sight base and star-gauged barrel. These barrels were actually special fitted with the same dimensions as the .22 barrels so as to fit these stocks. The barrels were made to National Match specifications, star-gauged and tested. These rifles were noted for showing remarkable accuracy, in some cases better than the regular NM rifles. This one has original bluing with a Springfield barrel, dated to April of 1930. Bore has good rifling but notable frost and freckling throughout. Excellent stock with hardly any handling wear.
