Description
8/16/22 - This is a very nice example of a Springfield Armory Model 1903 rifle that was reworked for WW2. The receiver is Springfield marked and was produced in 1922. The small parts of the rifle are mostly unmarked, but the cocking piece and bolt have a "R" indicating they are Remington parts, most likely replaced when the rifle was reworked. The barrel is marked and dated "S.A. 10 42" indicating that the original barrel was replaced with this Springfield barrel made in October of 1942. The gun has been re-parkerized, as was common for arsenal reworks, and thus the parkerized finish is in excellent condition with only minor handling wear throughout. The wooden stock of the rifle is in great condition, showing only minor handling wear throughout. The typical "p in circle" proof is absent from the stock's wrist but there is evidence it was once present and either removed or sanded out. The left side of the stock shows "S.A. S.P.G." and "A.A." indicating this rifle was reworked at Augusta Arsenal. The rifle comes with a period correct sling in decent condition that was made by Western Mfg Co. The action is smooth and functional. The bore is mint.Specifications
