Description
8/14/24 - This is a rare repeating rifle made towards the end of the Civil War. This surviving example is in good condition for its age. The stock is in good condition aside from two notable cracks, just above the grip area. However, it does feel solid as these are more than likely age cracks not due to mishandling. There is also a small piece missing from the forestock. Small screw missing on the bottom of the trigger guard. The barrel and receiver have portions of its original finish left with a pleasing patina. The bore is bright with slight remains of erosion towards the muzzle. This rifle has a unique in-stock / tube magazine design that ejects and loads as the receiver is rotated. The Triplett & Scott rifles and carbines were made to protect the supply lines of the Union army and issued to the Kentucky home guard. By the time these rifles were made, it was already at the end of the war.Specifications
