Description
10/27/26 - This is a very rare, inscribed Walther PPK, manufactured in 1938 and chambered in 7.65mm. The right side of the slide is inscribed "EHRENPREIS 1938 / N.S.D.A.P. Traditionsgau Gauamt für Beamte." Ehrenpreis translates to "honorary prize." The Traditionsgau was the Gau of Munich-Upper Bavaria, honored by the party as the birthplace of the movement, and the Gauamt für Beamte was its regional office for civil servants. Together they show this pistol was presented by the party in 1938 as an award to a civil servant in that region. It wears the scarce factory chrome finish and has the 90-degree safety, serrated ring hammer and checkered wraparound grips. This exact pistol is photographed and featured in Jim Rankin's book "Walther Volume II" on pages 76-77. The gun is all matching and comes with a chrome-plated Walther banner-only magazine. The chrome finish is excellent with no actual finish loss, just the typical micro scratching and scuffing throughout. Mint bore. A remarkable, published presentation PPK that would be a centerpiece in any advanced Walther collection.
