Description
5/4/26- For sale is a 1917 made M1905 bayonet with a very early 1907 dated scabbard. The blade has moderate patina and some spots of light corrosion. There appears to be scuffing to the blade that may indicate sharpening or grinding but the patina appears undisturbed, meaning the grinding must have been done while the blade was relatively new. The blade is stamped "RIA 1917" along with the flaming bomb on one side and "US 253047". The grips have light wear but no cracking or chipping. The scabbard is the early leather pattern and has the US belt hook style hanger rather than the longer loop style of the very first scabbards. The stitching holding the belt hooks has come undone but the shape of the leather holds it in place. The scabbard is stamped "R. I. A. 1907" along with an inspector mark, indicating this scabbard was made in the second year of M1905 production. Overall in good condition.
