Description
11/4/26 - This is a WWI U.S. Army Model 1910 aluminum mess kit, commonly known as the "meat can." Adopted before WWI, the M1910 was carried by American soldiers in the haversack throughout the war, with the hinged pan doubling as a frying pan and the separate lid serving as a plate. The folding handle is marked "U.S." over "T-USA Co." and dated 1917. The set consists of the pan with its folding handle and the matching lid with its ring. The aluminum shows scratches and light surface wear consistent with use, along with some staining on the lid, but there are no major dents. The utensils are not included. An honest 1917-dated WWI mess kit for the doughboy display.
