Description
11/3/26 - Offered here is a WWII Imperial Japanese Navy field cap of the type worn by the Special Naval Landing Forces (SNLF), Japan's naval infantry. It is made of khaki cotton twill, with a short stitched visor, a cloth chin strap, ventilation grommets on each side, and a laced adjustment at the rear. The front carries the embroidered yellow anchor insignia on a navy blue oval, and the side has a small brass cherry blossom pin. The inside has a green cotton lining, and there are faint ink stamps on the side and inside the cap. The condition is good overall, with honest wear from use. The cotton shows soiling and staining throughout, heaviest on the crown, along with some light fraying at the edges of the visor. The anchor insignia is intact, with just a loose thread or two. The chin strap and rear laces are present and intact. The lining shows some staining but no major damage. A nice, honest example of a Japanese Navy landing forces field cap with its insignia.
