Description

5/19/23 - This is an extremely scarce variation M1918 Visorless helmet. These rare examples were tested for German tank crews and possibly artillery observers. The shortened visor allows for more visibility and maneuverability in tight spaces. This helmet was determined to be a German Friekorp helmet or experimental Stahlhelm by Ivan Karabanov based on the weight, the liner and chinstrap style, the geometry, and lack of factory maker marking. This example is in great condition with some brown patina throughout the shell and typical signs of aging. No dents or major flaws. The interior shell has no markings or stamps, and the interior crown shows surface rust throughout. The original liner is still attached. The original leather chin strap is included but not attached on one side - as shown in photos. This could be attached, but we elected not to as we didn't want to risk damaging the leather. The leather is worn and shows surface cracking.
