Description

5/6/22 - This is a very nice example of a scarce Enfield No 4 Mk 1* made by Savage in 1944. These guns were manufactured in the US during WW2 to assist England as a part of the Lend-Lease Program between England and the US. These guns are "US Property" marked and have US military flaming bomb and "P" proofs. The small parts are marked with a Savage "block S". This one is all matching and has all of the proper markings. Very small import mark on the underside of the barrel. There isn't much actual finish loss, but there is brown patina covering all of the metal parts. Some minor thinning on the sides of the receiver. The stock is numbered on the underside, just behind the front barrel band. The numbering is matching but very faint, so we believe the stock was lightly sanded. The right side of the stock has a faint circular marking and is dated November of 1944. The bore has good rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout.
