Description
1/16/23 - This is a rare and desirable, early production Springfield M1903 bolt-action rifle. The rifle comes in all original configuration with an early style stock. The stock has one screw, hand groove, and correct style upper handguard. The stock also has a crisp original cartouche on the left side above the trigger, as shown. The metal rates at about 40% overall condition, as most of the original finish has worn off leaving spotty dark patina and other mild surface wear. There's no rust or pitting however, and the rifle is in great shape considering its age. The initials "VMS" have been lightly scratched into the underside of the trigger guard. The receiver serial number dates this rifle to 1906, and the barrel is 1905 dated. The bore is 8/10 with strong rifling and some mild surface patina and aging throughout the grooves. The wood stock has typical surface imperfections and mild bruises but no cracks or chips. Comes with a leather, period correct sling. Note this has an early "untreated" barrel, so we advise using lighter loads when firing this rifle.Specifications
