Description
9/1/22 - This is a very nice example of a Springfield Model 1903 rifle. The receiver dates to late 1906. The barrel is "SA" marked and dates to March of 1907. The stock has a proper "J.F.C." (J.F. Coyle) Springfield proof. The gun is all correct (except for the upper handguard which may have been replaced) and has the proper early early features, such as no recoil bolt at the back (tang) of the receiver. Overall the gun is in very nice condition. There is some minor brown patina on the receiver, some scratchy wear and thinning on the front barrel band, some minor wear around the muzzle and front sight, and some discoloration on the floor plate. Nice wood stock with only minor dings, bruises, and scratches throughout. There are some numbers along the top edge of the butt stock, which we assume to be rack numbers. The bore has decent rifling, but there is noticeable spotty oxidation throughout.Specifications
