Description
4/4/23 - This is a very nice example of a Colt Model 1895 double action revolver issued to the US Navy in 1904. The butt is marked U.S.N. over the Navy Anchor. Beneath this is the caliber designation ".38 D.A." and the "Triangle-S" civilian inspection marking and the initials "J.A.B." (both belonging to John A. Bell). The "Star-W" acceptance marking is found on the left side of the trigger guard, rear of cylinder, inside crane, beneath barrel, and on the cylinder release. Government Property marking "16815" on the butt. All of the "2240" assembly numbers are matching. The hammer appears to have been repaired with a brass piece on the front end. The gun has retained roughly 80% of its original finish with spotty / scratchy wear throughout. Handing marks and tiny dings in the metal here and there. Virtually all of the fire blue on the small parts is worn. Fitted with nice wood grips - no visible numbering. Minty bore.Specifications
