Description

8/4/23 - This is a nice example of a Danzig Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1916. The gun is mostly matching, but the rear parts of the bolt, the follower, and one of the bolts of trigger assembly are mismatched. No import marks. The metal parts have lost most of their original finish with obvious spotty oxidation and tiny pitting throughout. The stock is matching-numbered and Imperial-proofed. No major damage to the wood, but there is obvious bruising throughout. The bore has good rifling with minor frosting in the grooves. Fitted with a nice reproduction leather sling.
