Description
6/12/23 - This is an original Amberg Arsenal Gewehr 88 produced in 1890. This example was later converted to take 7.92x57mm Mauser S Patrone cartridges, as most were. This is indicated by the "S" stamp on the receiver. The receiver also has an added crescent moon stamp, which means this rifle was shipped to Turkey during WW1. The bolt also has Turkish proof stamps, and is mis-matching to the rest of the rifle. The rifle metal rates at around 75-80% overall condition with some light surface patina throughout the barrel and receiver. The metal shows signs of an older arsenal refinish as well, though we're not sure when. The bore is in great condition with excellent rifling and fairly clean throughout. There's some mild signs of use wear. The wood stock is Imperial proof stamped and still retains the original brass disc and sling swivel. The butt plate is mismatching but Imperial proof stamped. Mechanically sound with smooth operation. Comes with an original cleaning rod.Specifications
