Description
7/6/23 - This is a very cool and complete veteran bringback grouping that our consignor purchased directly from the family of the vet who captured these items, Tec/4 Charles Tate. The Luger is an interesting one in its own right. It's a sneak Luger with blank toggle, WaA66 proof, machine gun unit marking on front strap, police sear safety, and original matching magazine. It has minor wear on the high points, such as the muzzle and sideplate, and some wear on the straps. Unmarked grips but they appear original to the pistol. Bore has some frost throughout and some of the rifling is worn down. Accompanying the pistol are many of Tate's personal items/affects. He was captured in his time in service, and the listing includes his PoW paperwork and dog tag, as well as his helmet, boops, jacket, duffel, badges and pins, many photographs and postcards, and many pieces of official military correspondence/envelopes. Also comes with a personalized map on a handkerchief, which appears to indicate he was detainted at Stalag VII A. This handkerchief is particularly unique, as it is hand colored and drawn with personal notes of friends he served with, friends he lost, allusions to inside jokes and more, almost like one would see in an old yearbook.Specifications
