Description
2/24/22 - This is an extraordinarily rare and perhaps one-of-a-kind Smith & Wesson Model 1902 that was part of a very small contract order by the United States Revenue Cutter Service, a precursor to the U.S. Coast Guard. The Smith & Wesson book by Supica & Nahas documents the accepted serial range as 20752-20801, indicating only 50 were ever ordered, and this is the only such example we could find that was ever offered for sale on the internet. This specific variation used serial numbers within the model 1899 range but are made in the model 1902 configuration. The bluing is excellent given it may be the only example left in existence, rating at 90-92%. There's minor wear on the cylinder and muzzle but most of the bluing loss is on the back strap. Excellent, shiny bore. Matching numbers throughout, including the cylinder, barrel, frame and grips. Some of the original case hardening remains on the trigger and hammer. And perhaps just as rare as the firearm, it comes with an original 'USRCS' marked holster that is also serialized to the firearm. The top flap has notable cracking and staining but the leather is intact.Specifications
