Description
11/3/26 - Offered here is a German fire department (Feuerwehr) dress bayonet, complete with its black scabbard and leather frog. Fire service members wore these dress sidearms as part of their parade and walking-out uniform. It has the classic fire service hilt, with a plated pommel and S-shaped crossguard, and a pair of wooden grips carved to imitate stag antler, held by two rivets. The blade is fullered and bright, and no maker's mark is visible. The condition is very nice overall. The blade remains bright, with just a few small spots of light surface discoloration. The plating on the hilt is strong, with some light wear and minor scratches. The grips are solid, with no cracks or chips. The black scabbard retains most of its paint, with a few small chips and light scratches. The leather frog shows surface cracking in the leather throughout, but it remains intact with no major damage. A nice, complete German fire department dress bayonet.
