Description

3/2/20 - This is a fairly rare and interestingly designed Springfield Armory model 1930 Mark I. The Mark I was made at the end of WW1 and modified from the typical model 1903 by having a cutout on the left side of the receiver, so that the rifle could be modified with a Pederson device. This device was a magazine of sorts, that would attach to the rifle and effectively allow .30 caliber pistol cartridges to be fired from the rifle in semi auto. The magazine held 40 rounds, so this was a useful modification in closer quarter combat. This rifle is in excellent condition overall with the original finish mostly in tact and no notable wear, rust, or pitting. The metal shows honest patina within / under the parkerized finish, which is a good sign of this piece being 100% authentic. The stock is equally beautiful with only one very minor crack at the very back of the receiver assembly, on the top of the wood (see photos). The other minor downside to the stock is the discolored remnant of a sticker / label that was stuck to the right side of the butt-stock for some time, as it has faded the wood in that area. The barrel is dated July of 1920, and the bore is very nice. Clean and shiny that rates 9/10 overall. Also comes with an original and period correct leather sling.
