SOLD - Wehrmannsgewehr Model 98 - 8.15x46r

10/31/23 - This is an excellent condition Gew 98 that was converted to the 8.15x46r target shooting cartridge. The 8.15x46r was a sporting cartridge introduced prior to WW1 and was popular throughout WW1. Many Gewehr 98s were made in this cartridge from the factory and many were converted after the Treaty of Versailles and called a Wehrmannsgewehr or "Soldiers rifle". These rifles were a way for civilians to go target shooting while using military-style rifles. This rifle retains 95% of its original finish and has some spots of finish loss throughout. The receiver is blank of any markings which likely means this was a post-WW1 conversion as the ones made for the commercial market were marked as such. The top of the barrel is stamped "Udo Anschutz Zella - MI." The bluing on the metal is in excellent condition and the stock is free of any cracks or damage. The bore is mirror-bright with sharp grooves. The rifle comes with a brown leather sling and is missing its cleaning rod.
