Description
11/4/26 - This is a WWI German 32-round Luger "snail drum" magazine (Trommelmagazin 08), believed to be the Type II variation. Introduced in 1917, the snail drum gave the LP.08 "Artillery" Luger a dramatically increased capacity, turning the pistol into an effective close-quarters weapon for trench raiders, machine gun crews and storm troops. This example is serial numbered "703491" on the drum and bears the "B/N" marking, with the round-count markings 12, 17, 22 and 27 stamped around the drum. It retains its winding arm with knurled knob and the extension tube. The drum is fully functional with a strong spring. Much of the original finish has faded to a gray patina, with scattered light scratches, handling wear and some spotty surface oxidation, mostly around the edges and the feed tube. An honest, fully functional WWI snail drum to complete an Artillery Luger display.
