Description
11/5/26 - For sale is a WWI German patriotic beer glass decorated with the 1914 Iron Cross. The front carries an enameled transfer of the Iron Cross with the crowned "W" cipher and "1914" date, set in a green oak and laurel wreath beneath the Imperial German crown, with a black, white and red ribbon reading "Gott mit uns". The tapered clear glass has a thick footed base and a gilt band around the rim, and the side is etched with a "4/20 l" fill line and measure mark. It measures about 5 5/8 inches tall and about 2 1/2 inches across the opening. The transfer is bright and complete, the gilt rim shows some wear, and there are no visible chips or cracks. A nice patriotic piece from the home front during the Great War.
