Description
1/2/25 - This is an great example of a WW2 factory made Type 98 Katana. This particular variant is often called a "Contingency Model Type 98". These swords were made alongside the standard Type 98. This "Contingency" type was meant to be cheaper and more robust. These swords have often been called "Marine Landing Swords" which is not the case, however this type could have easily been used in marine landings. The blade on this sword is factory made and is in great condition with only a few minor areas of patina. Outside of these, there is no other signs of oxidation on the blade and no chips in the edge. The scabbard for this blade is also in great condition maintaining a good portion of it's original paint. The grip on this blade is a little loose and is in great condition.Specifications
