Description
7/11/24 - This is the Holy Grail of the trench shotguns, the Ithaca Model 37 made in 1942. It is estimated that only about 1,400 were issued and far fewer are in collectors hands today. This gun is in the proper serial range of 61038-61856. The barrel and receiver are matching to each other. The original blue rates at around 80%, with the most notable wear on the magazine tube, and some more on the left side of the receiver. Excellent bore. It is maker marked on the barrel as seen in the photos and flaming bomb proofed on the receiver, showing it was accepted into the US Military. It comes with the original heat shield and military bayonet lug. RLB marking on receiver indicates it was inspected by Lt. Col Roy Bowlin. Single brass bead sight on bayonet adaptor. Barrel has 12ga and 2 3/4 inch markings. Plain walnut stock with minor surface crack on left side where the wood meets the receiver. Comes with canvas sling. This gun is also listed in the Ithaca shipping records as going to the commanding office at the Augusta Ordnance Depot on 7/15/1942.Specifications
