Description

3/2/22 - This is the Holy Grail of the trench shotguns, the Ithaca Model 37 made in 1942. It is estimated that only about 1,400 were issued and far fewer are in collectors hands today. The gun is all original and correct, and the original finish rates at about 75-80% with lots of patina to the finish. It is maker marked on the barrel as seen in the photos and flaming bomb proofed on the receiver, showing it was accepted into the US Military. It comes with the original heat shield and military bayonet lug. Matching serial numbers. The stock and other wood are in the same condition as the metal parts and show no signs of sanding or even cleaning. Also come with an original leather sling - marked "Boyt 42", which matches the condition of the gun. To make this assembly even better, we have copy of the original paperwork from the factory listing of this shotgun by serial number (see photos). Original cost to the government was just $33.60. Simply a GREAT find at the Louisville gun show!
