Description

7/13/23 - This is an excellent example of an early Ithaca Model 37 16 ga shotgun with a 28-inch full choke barrel. The gun is designed with the desirable “slam fire” feature (the gun will fire each time the slide is racked as long as the trigger remains pulled). This gun was manufactures in 1941 by the Ithaca Gun Company in Ithaca, NY. The gun’s original finish is excellent and the bore bright and shiny. This gun was produced in the 5th year of the Model 37’s production and a year before the production of Model 37’s was temporarily halted so Ithaca Gun could dedicate all its resources to make .45 Caliber 1911A1 from 1943 thru 1945 during WW2. The Model 37 proved an extremely successful shotgun and was eventually even adopted for use by the U.S. military for riot and trench guns from WW2 through Viet Nam. The gun was called the Featherlight when it was introduced, although its weight was not significantly lighter than most other shotguns. The gun comes with a full box of modern fresh 16 ga shells.
