Description

4/9/24 - This is the Holy Grail of the trench shotguns, the Ithaca Model 37 made in 1942. It is estimated that only about 1,400 were issued and far fewer are in collectors hands today. This gun is in the proper serial range of 61038-61856 and the listing includes a scan of the factory shipping records with this serial on it. Matching serials on barrel, stock and receiver. The gun has been parkerized, so refinished at some point after the war and it's unknown whether by an arsenal or a collector. It is maker marked on the barrel as seen in the photos and flaming bomb proofed on the receiver, showing it was accepted into the US Military. It comes with the original heat shield and military bayonet lug. The bayonet lug is missing a screw. RLB marking on receiver indicates it was inspected by Lt. Col Roy Bowlin. Single brass bead sight on bayonet adaptor. Barrel has 12ga and 2 3/4 inch markings. Plain walnut stock with no cracks, just a few dings. Bore has minor frost. Unmarked canvas sling.
