Description

10/2/26 - This is a rare variation of the Ithaca Model 1911A1, dated to 1943 by its serial number. This one is stamped "M 1911 A1 US Army" on the right side of both the slide and frame. There are also matching flaming bomb ordnance inspection stamps on the inside of the frame and on the slide (under the firing pin retainer), confirming it is an original and correct example of this rare variation. It is all correct with a proper "HS" marked High Standard barrel and all the correct markings. The finish rates about 97%, and while there is very little actual finish loss, there is noticeable pitting on all sides of the front half of the slide. There is also some finish loss and spotty oxidation on the grip safety, with a hint of thinning on the front strap. Fitted with period-correct reddish plastic grips and comes with an unmarked magazine. The bore has strong rifling with some light frosting in the grooves. A correct example of a scarce Ithaca variation that collectors seek out.
